Description
The Dove Inn is an early 19th-century inn located in Micheldever Station. It is a square brick building with a stucco finish and a slated roof, featuring rendered stacks. The inn has two stories above a cellar and a three-bay front that is symmetrical and set on a plinth. The wide central entrance has 16-panelled double doors, which were added in the late 20th century, and is topped by a wide elliptical fan-light with radiating glazing bars. The classical porch has been significantly altered and is supported by plain brick piers. On either side of the entrance are 12-pane sash windows, with three smaller 12-pane sashes located above. The roof has a low pitch and over-sailing boxed eaves, and the corners are accented with chamfered quoins. The end stacks are rendered. The interior has been altered over time. The Dove Inn was built around the same time as the nearby station, originally named Andover Road, and served as a coaching inn for travelers heading to Andover.
