Description

This is an 18th-century dovecote located 80 meters northwest of Lainston House. It is constructed of chequerwork brick and features an old plain tile roof. The dovecote is octagonal in shape with a low plinth. On one side, there is a planked door positioned above another door. It has a timber ring-beam around the top and projecting eaves. Each face of the structure includes ventilator dormers. Inside, there are carved chalk nesting boxes, and the first floor is supported by central posts. The roof is held up by hammerbeams located at the center of each face.
