Description

This milestone, located 100 meters north of Lower Cranbourne Farm moated site, dates from around 1755. It is made of painted stone and features a V-fronted design with a rounded top. The stone is white with black painted lettering on its faces, indicating distances to London (59 miles) and Stockbridge (8 miles). It is situated along the route of the Stockbridge and Basingstoke Turnpike, established in 1755.
