Description
Kirbys Cottage is a cottage that dates from the 17th century and the 20th century. It is timber-framed with brick infill, part rendered, and has brick additions, all of which are colourwashed. The roof is thatched. The original 17th-century building is positioned end-on to the road, with a wing attached to the side at the road end and a bay added to the other end in the 20th century. The 17th-century house has three bays and is one storey high, but the centre bay features a 20th-century eyebrow dormer window. There is a door located to the left of the right bay, leading to a baffle entry, and in the centre bay, there is an early 19th-century lattice glazed cast iron three-light casement window. The left bay has a 20th-century wing, but the left, roadside end features another three-light early 19th-century cast iron casement window and exposed timber. The roof is half-hipped, with a ridge piece and a brick ridge stack located above the door.
