Description

Oddicombe Wayside Cottage is an L-shaped building that has been converted into two cottages. The original part dates back to the 15th century, with a 16th-century addition made at right angles. The building was refaced in the 18th century, and a further addition was made in 1983 to the older section. The structure features a timber frame with brick encasing for the 15th-century part and infill for the 16th-century section, along with a 20th-century brick addition. The roof is thatched.

The main road side showcases a three-bay 15th-century cruck building set at right angles, running along the lane. The 16th-century section consists of a two-storey, three-bay building with a smoke bay. At the opposite end, there is a 14th-century building with a 20th-century bay added. The roadside 14th-century range is single-storey and has four bays, with a 20th-century bay to the left and a low-swept roof.

The building features 20th-century two-light casements in the three older bays, along with two inverted dormers that have 19th-century cast-iron lozenge pane casements. The left bay has a rounded corner. The roof is hipped, with stacks above the left and right bays. The ground floor of the 16th-century building has been rebuilt in brick, and there is a 20th-century door in the smoke bay, positioned to the right of center. The right bay contains 19th-century cast-iron lozenge pane casements on both floors, while elsewhere there are 20th-century steel windows. The left end, adjacent to the 15th-century building, is jettied. Inside, the cruck blades are exposed.
