Description

Ingoldfield Farmhouse is a late medieval timber-framed hall house with a three-bay timber-framed crosswing, dating to the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, and with 20th-century restoration. The walls are of brickwork in English bond, with some Flemish Garden Wall bond, and the timber frame is partly exposed in the east gable. The roof is tiled, with a catslide at the rear, a hip at the west end, and a low eaves over an outshot. The south front has two storeys and three windows, with casement windows. A 20th-century porch, designed in an early 19th-century style, features a moulded canopy on slender columns, a cambered arch, and a six-panelled door with two glazed upper panels. Inside, the timber frame is exposed. A large two-sided fireplace is in the crosswing, and a single-sided fireplace, attached to the outside of the frame (now enclosed within the catslide roof), has brick fireplaces on both floors of Tudor form.
