Description
Nos 47 and 48 are cottages dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. They are constructed with a timber frame and plaster infill, which is encased in brick, and feature a thatched roof. The original 17th century building consists of three bays, with an additional bay added to the left and a wing to the rear when it was encased in brick. The structure has four bays and is one and a half stories tall. The door to No 48 is located in the second bay from the left. To the left, there is a three-light leaded casement window with a soldier head set in a projecting brick string course. To the right, there is a 19th century three-light casement window. In the right bay, there is a standard 20th century three-light casement window, and next to it, straddling the bays, is an 18th century three-light leaded casement window. The string course features three proud courses of brick. Above this, there are two pairs of eyebrow dormers with three 18th century three-light leaded casements and one 20th century one-light casement. The roof is hipped, with a large multi-flue stack at the left end of the second bay from the right and a smaller stack on the hip at the left end.
