Description
Wellbrook is a house that dates back to the late medieval period, featuring a timber frame with fireplaces and a first floor added around 1600. The building includes 17th century timber-framed extensions and underwent renovations in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. The exposed frame is complemented by painted brick infill, with some painted brickwork on the lower front and end walls, topped with a slate roof. The house has three bays and one and a half storeys, with irregularly placed casement windows, some featuring early 19th century cast-iron lattices. A gabled hood supported by posts leads to the front (glazed) door. Inside, the framework reveals beams and fireplaces that reflect the various phases of construction. The roof is half-hipped at the left end and features two gabled dormers with tile-hung fronts. There is a central shafted stack and an attached 18th century stepped stack at the right end.
