Description
Cromwell Cottage at Hunters Lodge is a house that has been converted into two cottages. Originally built in the 17th century, it was encased in the 18th century and altered in the 20th century. The structure has a timber-frame core with a brick exterior and is topped with an old plain tile roof. It is 1½ storeys high and features three bays, including a smoke bay, with an additional bay added in the 18th century to the right and a 20th-century wing at the rear on the left.
To the right of the centre smoke bay, there is a gabled open-fronted porch that is planked inside. To the right, there is a two-light casement window with a segmental head, and the added bay has a similar three-light window. The left bays feature a 20th-century bow window and a casement window. Above each bay, except for the smoke bay, there are two-light gabled dormers. The roof is half-hipped to the left, with a lower ridge on the right bay, but both sides have the same pitch. A 17th-century stack is located above the door, and an 18th-century stack is at the right end.
