Description
The stable block, located 70 meters north of Lockerley Hall, was built in 1870 and features the initials 'FGD' on tablets by Burn and MacVicar Anderson. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan consisting of 7 by 6 bays arranged around a courtyard.
The entrance front includes a large central archway topped by a four-storey clock tower. The archway is made of moulded stone with inscriptions in the spandrels. On either side, rusticated brick pilasters rise to form the quoins of the tower. There is a sash window in a stone surround on the first floor, and a clock set in a stone architrave on the second floor. The third floor features blind arcading with stone heads to the arches and a stone base string. A stone cornice and parapet complete the top of the structure.
One corner of the yard side has an octagonal stair turret, which is topped by a stone dome with arched openings and weathervanes above the stone cornice. The other bays have a plinth and a blind opening in a stone surround, with a sash window above in a stone surround topped by a gabled stone dormer. The gable walls and a ridge stack are located at the center of the range. Behind the stable block are walled gardens that contain an 18th-century stone gateway from the demolished East Tytherley Manor House.
