Description
Home Farmhouse, along with an attached dairy and smoke house, dates from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. The farmhouse is three bays wide and three bays deep, featuring projections for the wings, dairy, and smoke house, and is two stories tall. The front has a planked door in the center, sheltered by a pent-roofed porch. The right bay projects and contains five 4-pane sash windows. There is a first-floor band and a dentilled brick cornice. The left side is similar but has a canted full-height bay at the far end, connecting to the dairy. The roof is hipped, with a ridge stack over the right bay and another on the left side ridge. The dairy has an octagonal plan with an overhanging roof supported by tree trunks and features a glazed cupola. Inside, there are original fittings including marble shelves around the walls and a central marble basin with a fountain. The smoke house at the rear is attached by a link and has a 1½-story square plan with a hipped roof and a louvred cupola.
