Description
Anchor Farmhouse is a house dating from 1719, originally built with a timber frame and later reclad, with an addition made in the late 19th century. The building has an L-shaped plan and is constructed of brick and flint, featuring both thatch and slate roofing. The main part of the house is two storeys with an attic and has irregularly placed windows, while the wing is also two storeys with two windows. The roof is thatched, with slate covering the junction with the lower section, which has a hipped and half-hipped slate roof. The upper wall displays an exposed timber frame with brick infill, while the lower section is made of flint with brick quoins. The wing is similarly constructed of flint with brick quoins, cambered arches, and thin bands, all of which are now painted. The house features casement windows and two early 19th-century sash windows. There is a plain doorway with a six flush-panelled door, which is sheltered by a concave metal canopy supported by posts. A date mark is visible above the doorway.
