Description

Chestnut Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage situated at a right angle to the roadway in Hurstbourne Tarrant, near The Dene. It is constructed of brick and flint, with a thatched roof. The cottage is single storey with an attic, and has two windows. The roof is hipped, with eaves raised above the upper windows. The front, facing south-west, features red brickwork in Flemish bond, a first-floor band, rubbed cambered arches with decorative brick keys, and a plinth with a flint base. The end wall facing the roadside is of flint with brick quoins, bands, and a plinth. The windows are casements. The front door is a four-panelled door, covered by a cambered canopy on brackets. A low 20th-century wing constructed of painted brick and with a tile roof has been added.
