Description
The stables located 30 meters southwest of Ampfield House date from the 18th century and mid-19th century. They feature a combination of brick in Flemish and Garden wall bonds, as well as part timber-frame with brick nogging, topped by an old plain tile roof. The building facing the road is a 7-bay structure with two timber-frame end bays, a blank bay, and three bays containing 20th-century windows in their original openings. The end bay has a 16-pane window with a camber head from the 18th century and is half-hipped. On the other side, there is a series of doors and arched windows, with a central gable above the carriage door. At the far end, there is another range at right angles, which is lower and includes stables and carriage doorways. The remaining buildings consist of small and narrow stables, with one side wall along the roadside.
