Description

The United Reformed Church, originally founded in 1662, is a former Congregational Church that features elements from the 18th and 19th centuries. The central block, dating from the 18th century, has a hipped slate roof and roughcast walls, with a first-floor band. The symmetrical classical front, added in 1839, is two storeys high and has a layout of three windows across, arranged as 1.1.1. The façade is finished in stucco, with a cornice and frieze that is raised to form a pediment above the slightly projecting central section. The central opening is Venetian, flanked by lower side windows with plain arches, and there is a plinth at the base. The wide doorways are designed in a simple Doric Order.
