Description
Nos 36 and 38 on East Street are 18th-century buildings with a regular facade facing west. They are two storeys high with an attic and feature six windows. The buildings have a tile roof, a modillion cornice, and three flat-roofed dormers with sash windows. The walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches, moulded bands at the first floor, and a plinth. In the fifth bay, the upper light has a moulded brick surround but is currently filled in. The sash windows include some with narrow sidelights, particularly in the south side bay. The doorcase features a moulded canopy supported by carved brackets, along with an architrave, panelled reveals, and a fanlight. The third bay has had its former ground floor opening altered to create a second doorway of a simple design.
