Description
This is an early 19th-century terrace of small houses at numbers 6 to 18 Palmerston Street. Number 6 projects slightly forward of the rest of the terrace. The buildings are constructed of brick with flat eaves and slate roofs. Each house has two storeys and a basement and originally contained one window bay. The sash windows have four panes and are set in reveals; in number 6, they have flush frames. Rubbed brick voussoirs feature above the ground-floor windows. Window blinds cover the windows of numbers 8, 12, 16, and 18. The six-panel doors have the upper two panels cut away in numbers 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18, and the upper four panels cut away in number 6. The doors are set in reveals within reeded frames, topped with a plain frieze and a delicate flat hood supported by curved cut brackets. Doors at numbers 10 and 12, and 14 and 16 are paired. There are four moulded stone steps leading to each door. The terrace is part of a larger group which includes the listed buildings at numbers 70 to 84 (even) and 47 to 55 (odd) on The Hundred.
