Description
West End Farm is a large house on the corner of Sandford Road and York Road, originally dating back to the 17th century, but with Jacobean revival style facades from around 1850. The house is two storeys high. Both main facades have a gable on the left-hand side with one window, and a long range of three windows. The roof is covered with red tiles, and features a massive central chimney, along with other more recent chimney stacks. The walls are red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with hood moulds above the first-floor windows. The ground floor bays have hipped roofs. The windows are casement lights. An earlier porch, located on the east side (associated with No 53), is a gabled brick projection with a four-centred arch and a chamfered opening. The porch to No 51 is simpler and smaller, with a gable above a square opening.
