Description
Rose Cottage, together with the adjacent property at No. 14, was designed in 1910 by H.R. and B.A. Poulton and is an example of the Art Nouveau style. The pair of houses are two storeys high and feature a double-gabled front elevation. The first floor is jettied, projecting over ground floor bays. The roof slopes to low eaves, extending on brackets to create a hood over each entrance door. The north side of the building is gabled, with a projected section at the top to protect a tall two-storey bay window that has a French window on the ground floor. The south side has a massive hipped roof with a hipped roof dormer, and low eaves. The roof is tiled, and the walls are brick with half-timber effect, incorporating curved and arched braces to the projecting elements. Large chimneys with diagonal stacks are present. A decorative lead hopper head and rainwater pipe in the centre are dated 1910 and bear the letter "N".
