Description
The Crown Hotel is a hotel that has an 18th-century core and was altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick, painted on the ground floor, with tile hanging on the first floor and a plain tile roof featuring toothed ridge tiles. At the rear, there are 19th-century weatherboard and slate additions. The building is two storeys tall with five irregular bays. The rear of one half has a large 19th-century weatherboard range, while the other half runs behind the bay of No 4, supported by iron columns. The first floor has a similar 19th-century range.
The front features a 19th-century Ionic porch with two pilasters and two columns that support a broken cornice and open pediment, located above two steps and leading to a six-panel door. In the centre bay, there is another six-panel door set in a doorcase with cut brackets that support a flat hood. Each side has sash windows. The end bays have 19th-century canted bays with sash windows on each face; the right-hand side has a plinth with a segmental head opening to the cellar. There is a tripartite sash window in the left-hand side of the centre bay. On the first floor, there is a paired sash window to the left of the centre and a tripartite sash window in the centre. The right-hand bay has a higher roof with a gabled wall, while the left-hand roof continues with a slight rise in the ridge towards No 4. There is a ridge stack to the left of centre.
