Description
The Warehouse is an 18th-century building that has been converted into a house. It was restored in 1982 when a road was built between it and the seashore. The exterior is brick that has been rendered, and it features an old plain tile roof. The building is two stories tall and has three bays. There is a wide central doorway with double doors, and on either side, there are 3-light casements in original openings. All ground floor openings have a cambered shape, while the first floor has 3-light windows. The roof is hipped. However, the render and landscaping have detracted from what was otherwise a sensitive restoration. Originally, this warehouse stood directly on the waterfront before land reclamation and holds landmark importance in the village, particularly from Hythe pier. It is the only surviving building associated with Hythe's waterborne trade.
