Description
No. 5, known as The Lord Nelson Public House, is a public house located on High Street in Hythe. It was built in the mid-18th century and underwent alterations in the mid-19th century. The building features walls made of painted brickwork with a cement plinth and a tiled roof that has a kneeler on the west gable.
The symmetrical front elevation faces southwest and consists of two storeys with three windows, although the ground floor on the east side has been modified. The windows include Victorian sashes, a splayed bay window on the west side with a decorative cornice, a plain sash on the east side with a similar cornice, and a small central round-headed casement. The entrance doorway is adorned with a cornice and a plain frieze supported by console brackets, and it features half-glazed doors.
