Description

This is a house, dating from around 1820 and altered subsequently. It is constructed of red brick with blue brick headers in a Flemish bond pattern, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The house has two storeys and three bays. The central entrance has a door of six raised and fielded panels, flanked by lamp brackets, and is set within a later, columned portico featuring a frieze and dentilled cornice. A mid-to-late 19th-century French window with eight panes occupies the space above the door, accompanied by two fire insurance plaques. Other windows are 12-pane sashes with projecting sills. All window and door openings are topped with gauged flat brick arches. The eaves overhang, and the hipped roof has lateral chimney stacks, with that on the right side truncated. At the rear, segmental arches constructed of soldier bricks frame the openings, some of which have been altered or are later additions. A mid-to-late 19th-century French window with margin glazing bars, along with a 12-pane sash, are present on the right side of the rear elevation, alongside an added gabled porch. On the right return, 12-pane sashes are visible to each floor, with the first-floor sash being a replacement. This building is recognised for its group value.
