Description

Thatches is a 17th-century cottage, altered in the 19th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill, a scantling frame, brick, and a weatherboarded addition, all under a thatched roof. The cottage is one-and-a-half storeys high and has two bays, with a hip bay added to one end and an outshot bay to the other. The front, facing the lane, has a three-light casement window and a three-light eyebrow dormer in each bay. A blank hip bay is located on the right-hand end, and an outshot section is on the left. The roof is hipped and has a stack positioned at the left-hand end above the stone section. Group Value is present – the building contributes to the character of this area through its age and style.
