Description

This is a house, originally built in the early 16th century as a timber-framed hall with cross wings, and later converted into three cottages. It has undergone several alterations and extensions over the centuries, including brick cladding in the 19th century and renovations in the 20th century. The walls are built with Flemish garden wall bonds, with a tile-hung rear gable. The roof features a catslide at the rear and dormers with both gabled, hipped and flat roofs. The north-east front has gabled wings projecting forward, with one storey and an attic, and a 1-1-1 window arrangement. The gables incorporate mid-19th century oriel casements with tiled hoods and carved brackets dating back to the original construction. Other windows are 20th century. Modern entrances have been added. It is believed that the building was once the local manor house.
