Description
5-7 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It was originally built in the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a tiled roof.
It stands two-and-a-half storeys tall with a pitched roof. On the ground floor, there are two mismatched shop windows, each with a fascia above, flanking a central half-glazed door. The fascia of the right-hand window extends above the doorway. The first floor features a pair of eight-over-eight horned flush-frame sash windows, with a pair of tie-plates located to the right of the right-hand window. An eaves cornice runs along the top. In the attic storey, there are two hipped roof-dormers with diamond opening lights.
The interior has not been inspected. Originally built as a house, the building was later converted into a shop. It is recognized for its attractive and modest 18th-century architecture, which retains much of its early fabric.
