Description

House. Dating from the early and late 19th century, with 20th-century additions, this is a Regency villa with later extensions. The house is constructed of stucco with slate and tile roofing. The symmetrical west front, facing the road, has two storeys and two windows, with extensions projecting to each side. The north side is recessed and retains a curved parapet and a blind arched recess. The south side has been extended into a half-gable, set back, with a corresponding arched recess above the front door. A thin band runs along the first floor. Windows are casements with narrow side panes, and French doors with side panes are on the ground floor. The front door features a plain keystone, an ornamental fanlight, and a six-panelled door. A trellis runs across the entire front, recessed on each side, with a concave roof and thin, fluted columns between vertical supports. These columns are decorated with diagonal and other ornamental details, all overlooking a stone-paved forecourt. The original roof was a slate pyramid, now blending with the hipped tile roof of the rear extensions, which have sash and casement windows. The older section of the interior features door frames with reeded architraves and a curving staircase.
