Description
Lodge Farmhouse and No 8A is a large house dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, featuring two storeys and a cellar, with later alterations including a slightly projecting centre that has an attic. The main (north) front has a symmetrical arrangement of windows with one window on each side of a central pair. The roof is covered with red tiles and has three hips at the front, while the eaves are decorated with brick dentils, indicating later changes to the building. The walls are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with blue headers on the west sides, and there are decorative features such as a first-floor band, a second-floor string in the centre, rubbed flat arches, and a high plinth. The ground floor windows have casements, mullions, and transoms, and there are signs of remodelling in the wall where the windows are located. The front door is situated in the east wing and is sheltered by a canopy supported by brackets, featuring a fanlight within the frame and a six-panelled door.
