Description
Forge House, Forge Cottage, and Cameo Cottage are a group of buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. They form a large timber-framed structure that has been subdivided, with an 18th-century extension on the south side at the eastern end, which faces King Street and is known as Forge House. The buildings are two storeys high and feature irregular window arrangements. The roofs are covered with red tiles, and Cameo Cottage has two gabled dormers with leaded lights. The timber frame is exposed on the north side and at the corner facing King Street. The infill and other walling consist of painted brickwork, which includes some cambered openings and marks from filled doorways. The windows are casements. Forge Cottage has a panelled door, while Cameo Cottage has a boarded door. Forge House features a two-window front on the east side, with painted brickwork, casements, and a plain door.
