Description

This is an 18th-century Countess of Huntington chapel, now converted into a dwelling house. The chapel itself is a small, symmetrical structure with its main front (south-facing) featuring a central doorway flanked by tall, round-headed windows. Attached to the east side is a single-story cottage with an attic. The chapel has a red tile roof, hipped in form, and a recent flat-roofed dormer. The cottage roof is lower, with a gabled dormer at eaves level. A tapered brick stack is located at the east end. The chapel’s walls are of red brick, in a Flemish bond pattern with rubbed round arches and a plinth. The cottage walls use a Monk bond pattern, with a ground-floor cambered opening. The chapel windows have square leaded casements, while the cottage windows are of a plain design. The chapel’s entrance is framed by a moulded canopy and architrave, and features an eight-panelled door set above a moulded stone step. The cottage has a small gabled brick porch. The rear elevation of the chapel is similar to the front and includes a new French door.
