Description

Kenward House and its wings, including R G Rummery and the Wintney Wine Company, date from the early 19th century. The building features a symmetrical front with three storeys and five windows. It has a low-pitched slate roof from the 19th century, which includes double gables that project widely at each end. The eaves are supported by small brackets arranged in groups of three, with four at the ends. The walls are finished in stucco and include an eaves fillet, bands at the first and second floors, and a plinth, all connected by end pilasters. The windows are sashes set in reveals. There are two doorways, which are modern Neo-Georgian in style, located at the second and fourth bays. These doorways feature a pediment, Tuscan columns with three-quarter columns, a fanlight, and a six-panelled door.

To the west, there is a plain single-storey wing that extends to the footway, featuring slate-roof brackets similar to the main block and rendered walling. To the east, two gabled wings project forward, with a gateway entrance between them, which are partial remnants of a stable wing. The ground-floor fronts of these wings are occupied by shops, while the west side has an upper sash window.
