Description
The granary at Prior's Farm, which was briefly used as a dwelling in the 20th century, is currently used for storage. It dates from the late 18th century and underwent alterations in the 20th century. The structure is timber framed with painted brick infill and features a half-hipped tiled roof. It consists of three by three bays, although some of the original mushroom-shaped staddle stones have been replaced or reinforced with 20th-century cement replicas. The frame is made of thin scantling with diagonal tension braces, and some posts have been replaced. The box has been strengthened with iron plates. The building includes 20th-century leaded light casements and a plank door with iron hinges, along with 20th-century brick steps. Inside, there is a tie beam with run-out stops and a Queen post roof, along with 20th-century floor joists and some original floorboards.
