Description

This is a former farmhouse dating to the 17th century, with remodelling in the 18th century. It is timber-framed with brick nogging, and was refronted and extended in red brick. The roof is half-hipped with plain tiles, and includes a catslide over the rear outshut. The timber framing features small square panels with straight tension braces at the corners. Brick end and lateral stacks are present. The main hall range has a rear lateral stack, a rear outshut, and a short cross-wing to the left with a further outshut and a brick end stack to the rear. The two-storey front has a five-window range with irregular window openings. The front now has 20th-century metal casements; ground-floor windows are set within original openings which have segmental arched heads. A doorway is off-centre to the left, with a later gabled porch. The interior reveals much exposed timber framing, including chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. The hall range includes trusses with tie-beams, collars, and queen-struts.
