Description

This is a group of three small cottages dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, situated on The Borough in Crondall. The easternmost cottage (No. 26) is single-storied with an attic, and features a longer two-story side elevation. It has a red tile roof, a tile-fronted dormer, a half-hipped gable to the east, and a rear gable. Exposed timber framing is visible in the upper part of the east end and along the east side, with brick infill. Two large chimney breasts are located on the east side, and there are casement windows. A modern timber-framed porch, set on a brick base, is shared by all three cottages. No. 28 is two-storied, with a tile-hung gable on the west side, a red tile roof, and brickwork in Flemish bond with a first-floor band. It also has casement windows. No. 30 is single-storied with an attic, a tile roof with a half-hipped gable, two tile-faced dormers, and one ground-floor casement window. The rear of the cottages displays three half-timbered gables and two gables projecting slightly above the roofline, with brickwork in English bond. The buildings are strongly grouped with the Chapel Cottage and Old Meeting House located on Well Road.
