Description

The walled garden at Cams Hall, likely built in the late 18th century, features an attached garden house and outbuildings with additions and alterations from the mid to late 19th century, around 1860. Constructed from red brick with blue brick headers in both Flemish garden wall bond and English bond, the structure has Welsh slate roofs. The garden is a rectangular enclosure with walls approximately 3.5 meters high, topped with a slate course and shaped brick coping. A zig-zag wall runs across the center from west to east, featuring a central elliptical-arched doorway. There are two similar doorways in the east wall, with the northern one obscured by later 19th-century bothies. The garden house, attached to the center of the north wall on its south side, is two stories tall and measures two by one bays. It has an elliptical-arched doorway with a window above, stepped eaves, and a hipped roof with a stack at the rear right corner. On the west side, there is a doorway with a round-cornered flat arch, a window above, and an inserted segmental-arched doorway to the left. Inside, the structure features butt purlins and a plank ridge.
