Description

The former stables at Kintyre House date from the 18th century. They are constructed of red brick with grey brick headers and projecting long and short brick quoins. A brick modillion eaves cornice runs along the top, and the building is covered by a steeply pitched tiled roof. The original design included two storeys and three window bays, with the central bay projecting and topped by a pediment containing a loft doorway within a blocked arch. A blocked carriageway arch is located beneath. The outer bays feature coach house doorways with blocked windows above. These stables are part of a group of listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, which also includes the street lamps, numbers 1 and 2, the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul on Church Place, the Red Lion Hotel, and number 10 East Street.
