Description
Kintyre House is a 18th-century building located on the east side of High Street in Fareham, dated 1756 on a drainpipe. It features grey headers with red brick window dressings, quoins, and a cornice, along with a stucco band at the first floor and above the eaves cornice. The building has a coped parapet made of grey headers and stands three storeys tall with five sash windows, although the glazing bars are missing. A notable feature is the handsome porch, which has fluted Ionic columns and a curved modillioned pediment. The doorway is segmental headed, surrounded by a moulded architrave with a keystone above, and has a segmental headed door with six fielded panels, two of which have been cut away and glazed. Kintyre House is part of a group of listed buildings that includes all the listed structures on High Street and Union Street, the listed street lamps, Nos 1 and 2, the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul on Church Place, the Red Lion Hotel, and No 10 East Street. No 45 on High Street is noted for its local interest.
