Description

The street lamp outside number 13 on High Street in Fareham dates from 1897 and is made of cast iron. It features a cylindrical plinth that bears a date panel and the name of the town. Rising from this plinth is a shaft with a bulbous base that has floral bas relief decoration. The shaft includes an enriched band and ends with a cornice that has cross arms, supporting a large curved lamp bracket with scrolls. The lamp is currently fitted with electric light. This street lamp is part of a group of listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, which includes the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, the Red Lion Hotel, and number 10 East Street.
