Description
No. 17 High Street is an 18th-century house that has undergone some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of vitrified brick in a header bond pattern, with red brick dressings. It features a clay plain tile hipped roof that is set behind a tall parapet. The house is one storey with an attic and has a one-bay east front. On the first floor, there is a 16-pane sash window with a moulded case and a red brick surround. To the left, there is a doorway with a doorcase that includes panelled pilasters, a segmental pediment, panelled reveals, and a fielded six-panel door with glazed top panels. On the right side, there is a former shop bay window that has 12 large panes and a cornice. Above the doorway, there is a fire insurance plaque. The house also has a hipped dormer and a large 20th-century brick wing at the rear, which has a hipped roof. The interior has not been inspected.
