Description

The street lamp located outside numbers 65 and 66 on High Street in Fareham dates back to 1897. It is made of cast iron and features a cylindrical plinth that includes a date panel and the name of the town. Rising from this plinth is a shaft with a bulbous base, adorned with floral bas relief decoration. The shaft is enhanced by a decorative band and ends in a cornice with cross arms. It has a large curved lamp bracket with scrolls, which is now fitted with an electric light. This lamp is part of a group of listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, which includes the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, the Red Lion Hotel, and number 10 East Street.
