Description
The Thatched Cottage is a 18th-century cob cottage located on Dibles Road in Warsash. It features red brick above the eaves and has a thatched roof that extends over weatherboarded outshuts at each end, which are vertically boarded. The building is 1 and a half storeys high and includes four dormers, each with roof tiles below them. There are four late 18th-century to early 19th-century casement windows. An early 19th-century square bay window has replaced an earlier door, as the building was once divided into two cottages. A simple wooden porch is present at the entrance. Inside, the north end fireplace remains, complete with an oven entrance beam and hooks. Part of the ceiling retains boards and trapdoors, which have a hood and pulley above to facilitate the transfer of furniture, coffins, and other items from the first floor.
