Description
Nos 5 and 7 on High Street are late 18th century to early 19th century houses. They feature a rendered facade with a steeply pitched slate roof and end chimneys topped with some Fareham chimney pots. The buildings are two storeys tall and have three windows; the first-floor windows are barred sashes, while the ground-floor windows were altered later in the 19th century. There are two doors and two windows, including an earlier 19th-century small shop window with a cornice above, although both windows are currently boarded up. The rear of the buildings has a tiled roof and is two and a half storeys high, with two dormers and three windows, one of which is blank on the first floor. The houses occupy a prominent position at the junction of High Street and East Street, facing directly down East Street. They are part of a group of buildings that includes Nos 3 to 39 (odd) and Old Clarendon House, along with Nos 2, 6 and 8, and Nos 14 to 18 (even), Nos 22 to 26 (even), Rockstone House, and Nos 5 to 11 (odd), the Old Lodge and Old Lodge Cottage on High Street, Titchfield. Nos 14 to 18 (even) and Nos 22 to 26 (even) are buildings of local interest.
