Description
Kames Cottage is a timber-framed building clad in brick, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The facade features painted brick with a brick eaves cornice and a steeply pitched tiled roof. The cottage has two storeys and three windows, all of which are barred sashes in boxed frames, except for the small southern windows. On the north side, the ground floor includes a segmental arch that leads to a porch built within the facade, where exposed timber indicates evidence of a former jetty. The southern end wall has been rebuilt. Kames Cottage occupies a prominent position at the junction of High Street and East Street. It is part of a group that includes Nos 3 to 39 (odd) and Old Clarendon House, along with Nos 2, 6 and 8, Nos 14 to 18 (even), Nos 22 to 26 (even), Rockstone House, and Nos 5 to 11 (odd), which includes the Old Lodge and Old Lodge Cottage on High Street, Titchfield. Nos 14 to 18 (even) and Nos 22 to 26 (even) are recognized as buildings of local interest.
