Description
Rookery Farmhouse is a timber-framed house, mostly refronted with grey headers, located on Botley Road in Swanwick. The building features red brick window dressings, quoins, a stringcourse, and diaper motifs. The first floor of the eastern window bay, likely a later addition, is made of red brick. At the center, there is a half hipped gable with exposed framing and red brick infilling, which sits on a stone plinth. The farmhouse has an old tiled roof and stands two storeys tall with five windows, primarily late 18th century to early 19th century casements, many of which have been replaced in a similar style. The eastern window bay includes sashes with moulded exposed frames and glazing bars. There is a 19th-century gabled timber porch and a bay on the ground floor to the west. Rookery Farmhouse forms a group with Yew Tree Farmhouse and another nearby property, along with its Granary and Barn, which are of local interest.
