Description

Portland House is a fine two-storey Victorian house from the mid-19th century, designed in a Gothic style. It features several gabled projections and is topped with slate roofing. The stepped chimney stacks have double-pitched tops that extend widely over brackets. The gables are adorned with ornate barge boards that include finials and scalloped edges, projecting over curved braced brackets. The house is constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond, with flat and some cambered openings. It has sash windows set in reveals, including one ground floor bay, and a simple doorway. This building retains its character and remains unaltered.
