Description
Vallenders is an 18th-century house, with additions and alterations made in 1914 and around 1960. It is a Georgian farmhouse with a small barn attached to its west side. The main south-facing front has two storeys and originally had a 3-window by 2-window arrangement, but now has extensions on each side, each two storeys high with an attic, and containing two windows on the west side and one on the east. The roof is plain, with brick dentil eaves, while the side extensions have lower mansard roofs with half-hips. The walls are of Flemish bond brick, with one wide rubbed flat arch. Above the brickwork are wooden boards. The windows are casements, with an old leaded window in the west gable extension. Angular two-storey bays, each with three windows, were added in 1914 to either side of the original part of the house. The extensions have flat-roofed dormers. The rear of the house appears as an L-shaped block, with the original central section being taller and having a catslide roof. The fenestration is irregular, and a 20th-century brick porch, featuring a classical doorcase, has been added on the rear.
