Description
89 High Street is an 18th-century building that has been significantly altered in the early 19th century and has later additions. The original structure is two stories high and three bays wide, finished in stucco with a slate roof. The ground floor features a central four-panel door flanked by a single tripartite window on either side. The first floor has a central two-light mullioned window with a single tripartite window on each side. All doors and windows have drip moulds above them. The eaves cornice is decorated with Gothick arches. There are 19th-century additions on either side, which also include drip moulds on the windows.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 89 and 91, Nos 93 and 95, No 1 Mount Pleasant Road, and Nos 106 to 112 (even) on the opposite side, along with the 'Hop Poles' Public House in Mount Pleasant Road and the 'Duke's Head' Public House in Butts Road.
