Description

Fern Cottage, dating from the late 19th century, is a two-storey, three-bay wide building situated on the High Street. It is attached to and slightly projecting from number 93. Constructed of red and yellow brick with a slate roof, the ground floor features a simple door originally positioned centrally, but now located to the right. The windows are sash windows. The property is included on the heritage register for its contribution to the wider group value of the streetscape.

Fern Cottage is part of a group which includes numbers 89 and 93, numbers 95 and 1 Mount Pleasant Road, numbers 106 to 112 (even) on the opposite side of the road, the ‘Hop Poles’ public house in Mount Pleasant Road, and the ‘Duke’s Head’ public house in Butts Road.
