Description
No 1 Mount Pleasant Road is a late 18th-century building that was originally part of a single house. It is two storeys high and four bays wide, with the second bay from the left protruding slightly. The building is constructed of colour-washed brick and has a tiled roof.
On the ground floor, there are three sash windows. The original entrance, now the entrance for No 93, features panelled reveals, an arched head, and a reeded surround in the second bay. There is a later door, now the entrance for No 95, in the third bay from the left. The first floor has four sash windows, and there is an eaves cornice with small flat brackets. The fourth bay from the left is No 1 Mount Pleasant Road, which has its entrance on the return and is partly tile-hung.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 89 and 91, Nos 93 and 95, Nos 106 to 112 (even) on the opposite side, the 'Hop Poles' Public House in Mount Pleasant Road, and the 'Duke's Head' Public House in Butts Road.
