Description
Lansdowne House, located at No 74 on the North West Side of High Street, is a mid-18th century building that stands two storeys plus an attic and features five bays, with the central three bays being advanced and topped with a pediment. The structure is constructed of vitreous and red brick and has a tiled hipped roof. The ground floor includes a central entrance set within a Tuscan pedimented doorcase, which is accessed by two steps and flanked by two windows on each side. A moulded brick band runs along the first floor level, which has five sash windows. The building is adorned with a deep moulded and dentilled eaves cornice. The pediment displays a Rococo shield and swags, and there is a single dormer window on each side of the roof. The return facing Cross and Pillory Lane features one tall staircase window above a modern door.
